OVERVIEW

Valiant Products helps large hotel chains design and furnish hotels with custom furniture and design services for their customers. In the fall of 2020, I worked with their team to help bring their entire catalog into a digital format. This project helped Valiant reach new customers and extend design services with exsisting clients.

THE CHALLENGE

The Valiant Products team needed to take a very large print catalog and develop an effective ecommerce strategy to sell products online.  Most of the sales information was tied up with traditional sales representatives using a PDF catalog and primitive tools to gather funnel analytics from their customers. The general feedback from customers was that the catalogue was static and didn’t support how they wish to purchase products. They wanted a more dynamic experience where they could keep an eye on their budget/room and see the products within a 3D environment. Many customers mentioned that they enjoyed curating their own designs, much like other ecommerce customers build carts and wish lists. Speaking with design consultants and sales representatives was much lower down on the list for importance for customers. Many abandoned the experience long before they spoke with Valiant because they wanted a fast, fresh experience.

THE SOLUTION

I responded with a refreshed brand experience featuring the Home, PLP, and PDP pages, as well as a third-party 3D visualizer tool customers could use to build their hotel rooms without ever needing to talk with a salesperson. This helped reduce the sales cycle from 24 days down to 3 days. Customers were able to save multiple iterations of room designs and critical KPIS and analytics could be harvested from the site using Google Analytics and Quantum Metrics.

TALKING WITH CUSTOMERS

We wanted to validate our own instincts so we scheduled a few days of user experience exercises to help qualify a few ideas we had to improve the website.
